Hail damage on the roof, body shop wants a full respray, surely there's another way?

We got caught in that freak hail storm a couple of weeks back near Al Ain and my roof and bonnet look like a golf ball now, must be thirty odd dents across the top. Took it to a body shop and they quoted me a full roof respray plus blending into the pillars, basically half the car, and the price made me laugh out loud in the guy's face. A friend reckons most of these can just be popped out without any paintwork at all so I started digging around and ended up on https://exoticautoservices.ae/paintless-dent-repair-abu-dhabi/ reading up on how the process actually works. The part I don't get is how they get behind a roof panel when there's a headliner in the way, do they drop it or use some kind of glue pulling method from the outside? And does it actually look flawless on white paint because that's usually the colour that shows every imperfection. Anyone been through this with hail damage specifically? Would rather keep the factory paint if at all possible.
